THE PROBLEM - Politicians and Sewage Experts

“Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by
imbeciles who really mean it.” - Mark Twain -

Some people have been threatened for speaking out against sewage effluent/sludge dumping that affected
their quality of life or health. Some are afraid to sign their name on the petition to stop sludge dumping on
food crops with probable good reason. But lets remember, "When even one American - who has done nothing
wrong - is forced by fear to shut his mind and close his mouth - then all Americans are in peril." Harry S.
Truman

Secrets Behind the Emerging Sewage Sludge Scandal: A Brief Literature Review
It is hard for most people to believe that our government agencies such as the Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) would
deliberately promote the spread of antibiotic resistant bacteria on farmland,  ignore science and lie to farmers
and the public for 30 years, but they have.

INDUSTRY FEARS BIOSOLIDS SUITS AFTER COURTS REJECT EPA RULE DEFENSE
The biosolids industry is scrambling to assess the financial risk from a growing number of tort suits challenging
land applications of biosolids that plaintiffs are filing in state courts as federal courts are rejecting industry
defenses that EPA regulations allowing the controversial practice preempt the tort suits.

12/02/09 --
EPA's Lisa Jackson's statement during Legislative Hearing on the Toxic Substances Control Act
(TSCA) before the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works uses the same tired old line used by
most regulatory agencies who fail to fulfill their assigned functions-- we don't have enough money, or enough
people, or enough power to do the job. So, they receive more taxpayer dollars to hire more people and get
more power to cover up their misdeeds. EPA now acknowledges that sulfur oxides (SOx), nitrogen oxides
(NOx) and particulate matter (PM) will cause
premature deaths in people with heart or lung disease; heart
attacks; asthma and respiratory failure; chronic bronchitis and acute bronchitis;

Politics of Hazardous Chemicals and Etiologic Agents on Water, Land and Air
     The Ticking Time Bomb Explodes
The ticking time bomb theory was promoted in a 1980 EPA funded publication "Waste Alert". This term was
used in response to the "time honored practice" of  dumping hazardous chemical and sewage waste in shallow
land burial sites.  At the same time the Office of Solid Waste Division was intent on cleaning up these massive
hazardous waste dump sites such as Love Canal and Velsicol's 350,000 barrel Hardeman County, Tennessee
drum farm, the Office of Water Division was focused on creating  even more chemical and infectious
hazardous sewage waste dump sites on agricultural land under an Inter agency Policy (signed by FDA and
USDA). The Water Division promoted the time honored practice of using sewage as a fertilizer.

Spreading Sewage Sludge on U.S. Fields, Hidden Cause of Food Safety Problems
The House recently passed a new food safety bill (HR2749) giving the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
new power and more money. According to recently discovered documents, this will do nothing to protect our
food. Since 1980 it has been the official national policy to dispose of sewage waste on grazing land, fruits and
vegetables, parks school grounds and home lawns.

EPA's NON-RISK ASSESSMENT
http://www.deadlydeceit.com/503-Riskassessment.html

Early studies show sludge biosolids not safe.
Some of the early studies are indexed that show the fecal coliform is the name of a test for thermotolerant
bacteria and that antibiotic resistant bacteria are created in treatment plants. Gene transfer is also taking
place at the same time.  The studies also show that bacteria survived in a desiccated state - until they get
moisture. Maybe now we can all start talking the same language to protect our lands, food, water, and health.

leading causes of death indicates the pollutants in sewage could have had a significant impact on
the cause of deaths.
